I am showing some of my photos this week and have been trying to make prints. Things are not going so well. I look through the archives, and it all looks like junk. The lab messes up the color saturation in my prints. I ruin a matte with bad handwriting. The clock keeps on ticking… 3 comments

Okay, so, I understand that whole thing about viewing one’s own work and not being pleased. Regardless, I adore your photographs. I really, really do. And I’m hoping the print process becomes an exquisite experience. In the meantime, I’ll gladly go back through your archives any day. I, for one, think they’re amazing.

Remember when we were talking about recording and the beauty of imperfection? I think in any art form there comes a point when perfection is not as powerful as passion. Get your prints as clean as you can, and then just hang them on the wall for people to see. That’s just my 2 cents. :)

Hey, thanks for the encouragement. I really should know better than to write things after midnight – things aren’t as bad as I made them sound. I have 3 prints that are okay, so I’ll go with those.

This whole process has shown me how web-centric my approach to photography is. I’ve never seriously considered making prints before. It makes me want to haul in a monitor and set up a looping slideshow. Paper is such an inferior medium… :D
